Travel | The beautiful city of Venice

My husband and I were lucky enough to visit Venice last year, as soon as we arrived we were utterly amazed at the sight of the city from the water. Exploring Venice I was inspired by the patterns found in the intricate architecture around the city there was something to see everywhere you turned. Paint cracks off the walls to reveal glimpses of old brick work and magnificent buildings are adorned with paintings, mosaics and textures. We found ourselves exploring the narrow streets (one looking very similar to the last made getting lost very easy) although getting lost in Venice isn't such a problem, you can stop for a coffee pretty much anywhere and we soon realised the locals don't seem to be able to function without an hourly shot of espresso, you can also pick up the best piece of pizza you've possibly ever eaten in a local cafe! It's odd not seeing any cars, just water taxi's, ferries and gondola's, even the ambulance and police have boats  as transport, often seen zipping around the canals! There's no other place like Venice, its unique to say the least, a truly beautiful city on water. If you ever get an opportunity to visit I wouldn't think twice, your gondola awaits...

Stay tuned as next week I will be blogging about a visit to the colourful island of Burano, situated in the Venetian lagoon.

Travel | Our Thai adventure!

Hello, I have recently returned from my honeymoon in Thailand, I had the most incredible time away with my husband. Thailand was the most beautiful place I have ever been, I was inspired by something new everywhere I turned whether it be from an exotic plant, the colour of the sea or the patterns speckled over an elephants ear. Everywhere we visited in Thailand seemed to be a sensory overload, colour is everywhere, smells drift from cooking in the streets and local markets, and the tropical heat seemed to just surround every part of you. I seemed to find pattern everywhere I looked and have never visited anywhere with such beautiful richness in colour before, the sun seems to bring out all of the colour and texture in everything, it  enhanced the surroundings. Thailand is definitely somewhere I would love to return one day, its got culture, beaches, sunshine, beautiful sea, delicious food and some of the friendliest people I've ever met… (and elephants, I fell in love with these magnificent creatures!) I have some photograph's below which hopefully summarise the beauty and pattern we found on our travels. I feel I will be inspired later on in my own creativity by these memories, for now I find myself just looking through them on a regular basis to remind myself of the warmer climate! Here are the highlights from our adventures, Sawasdee Ka!
