Finding pattern in nature...

I've recently had a new DSLR camera, I realised how important photographs are to my inspiration for prints and patterns, so thought this would be a great investment for my future. I'm still teaching myself how to use it but have had fun so far capturing these images. Everywhere I go I see pattern, I'm particularly drawn to nature, especially flowers! I have selected a few photo's which I have recently snapped below. I get lovely pattern inspiration through this process, particularly when you get up close to an object, it gives a whole new look on one idea (the pink flower below is a good example of this) blowing it out of proportion and appreciating the fine details. I can't wait to start making some designs from these ideas!

Rainbow Shades!

Hello!
I have been desperate to spend time on my blog and designing recently but frustratingly free  time is not something I have had much of! I thought I would post something a bit different to usual today. This is a small selection of some of my original hand drawn illustrations produced using marker pens and inks. Without intention they all have similar colour tones to them, I must be drawn to these rainbow shades!
I'm looking forward to starting Module 3 of my e-course (The Art and Business of Surface Pattern) soon, then once complete I should be set in good stead to begin an exciting career in the world of surface pattern design! I will also hopefully the have luxury of some time on my hands next week so look out for new designs coming soon!
