Born In 2012 Baby Prints

Last weekend my friends and I threw a Baby Shower for our close friend Ariana, I decided to design her a print for the baby's nursery, I was really please with the outcome, and hopefully It will be something special that the little one will be able to keep forever. The design looks lovely in this simple wooden white frame below. you can see I've played with a few colour way's which you could have the design in. If you're looking for a personal special gift for a friend expecting a little one then feel free to contact me to buy your own print, colours and text can all be personal to you, making it extra special!

Countdown Begins!

Only 4 Days until I begin my course... The Art and Business Of Surface Pattern Design!

Stuck On Repeat...

I have recently entered a competition with www.ohhdeer.com, the brief was to create a repeat print design which could be used on notebooks, I decided to choose two of my repeat print designs which you may have previously have seen posted on here. I thought they fitted the brief well and I would love to see them on stationery! This would be a fantastic opportunity for me. You can view the designs on the link below, the judges at Ohh Deer will be picking 5 winning designs, you do have the option to 'like' my designs on the site which although won't decide the winners, the judges will take popularity of design into consideration! There are some amazing designs in this competition, so fingers crossed they like my work!

Evening All!

Evening Bloggers! Just a quick hello today, thought I'd show you a glimpse of a butterfly idea I've been working on. I've previously made another colour version for a frame in my house using yellow and orange hue's but thought I'd play with the colours and layout today to see what else I could come up with. My best friend has a real phobia of butterflies so I hope she does not dislike this design too much ;) I'll be back Soon, enjoy a sunday lie in tomorrow if you can... I know I will!

New print colours...

If you liked the 'Lemon Roses' print I previously posted I have created a few colour variations (Coral/Slate and Teal/Mink), it's amazing how changing the colours of a design can give a really different look!

Dinky Dainty!

This design is still work in progress but I thought I'd share a sneak preview with you all!
I started this idea by sketching a flower and thought I'd try using one single colour, adding texture on top. It's a very delicate design, I can see this design working well on several home ware products, maybe even on little cups and saucers!

More Tweets...

This new sketch style design is another design from the 'Your So Tweet' print range I've been working on. This design has a more hand drawn look to it, I've used a range of pastel colours which compliment each other well. This design could look really good on a range of stationery or even a little girls bed set... What do you think?

Happy Snaps of 2011...

Above are some of my favourite snapshots form 2011which were adapted using Instagram for iPhone. I love to take photo's whilst out and about, I can sometimes get inspiration from a beautiful  photo. My aim for this year is to keep taking more and more photo's  throughout the year, to have great memories to look back on in the future.

Happy Saturday!

Today I'm having a self indulgent day of designing and drawing. Its not often I get all day to play and experiment with the new print ideas. I'm at my desk listening to Ben Howard...very loudly, eating chocolate and creating! A Happy Saturday! What are you up to today?
Keep checking the blog for new designs and inspiration...

Hidden Depths...

I was inspired by the beautiful silhouette of the humming bird, I love the elegance and form of the shape, I created a print which was not immediately obvious to see the birds, like a camouflage. I wanted people to look at the design and initially see pattern and then to realise that the design had more hidden inside it.
I love the combination of navy, black and white on the first print it has a bold graphic style. The second print with a colour palette of soft pinks and blues gives a different feel, more feminine with the delicate and subtle white overlays of my initial humming bird drawing.

Do What You Love...

Really excited about starting my course at the end of the month... Featuring the talented Rachael Taylor. Also looking forward to meeting lots of exciting creative people interested in Surface Pattern Design!

Your So Tweet!

'Your So Tweet' is a bit different to my normal style, this design is aimed at the children's print market, it would look great on children's bedding or curtains, as its a fun and playful design. The colours could be adapted to make it more girly or suitable for young boys.

Lemon Roses...

Lemon Roses is a cheery Spring/Summer print, seeing this vibrant yellow shade makes a change from the subdued winter shades around at the moment!
